Sony are currently taking pre-orders on 38 new 3D TVs in SonyStyle stores nationwide. The 3D televisions will be set up in the SonyStyle stores in actual living room environments in order to give customers a better idea of what life would be like with a 3DTV. Customers will be able to play SonyPlaystation games and watch a clip form a FIFA game in 3d.
“Our Sony Style stores are often used as a test ground for new products and technology before they become available through our authorized retail network,” said Linda Turner, SVP of Sony Style retail stores. “Being able to demonstrate a new technology like 3D allows us to gain valuable insight into consumer reaction which we share with our engineers.”
The 3D TVs on display will include the Bravia XBR-52LX900 along with the HX900 and HX800-series. The 52LX900 will also include integrated 3D functionality with Sony’s 3D active shutter glasses and will also include a built-in 3D transmitter. The Sony HX900 and HX800 series of televisions will require the viewer to buy the glasses and 3D transmitter separately.
Sony will be shipping these new TVs in the spring of 2010. Sony Style is currently taking pre-orders in-stores nationwide, however for the time being, only non-3D models are currently available at SonyStyle.com.
