Samsung Release World’s First 3D HD TV

Samsung Electronics have released the first 3D full high-definition television. The television uses light-emitting diodes (LED). Samsung is aiming to sell 2 million unites of the 3DTVs over the globe this year according to a company spokesperson.

“We are very pleased to introduce the world’s first 3D, full-HD, LED TV to our consumers, which will offer a totally new viewing experience,” Yoon Boo-Keun, president of Samsung Electronics’ display division, said in a statement.

The Samsung 7000 and 8000 series are in available sizes of 46 and 55 inches. The TVs also come equipped with technology that is compatible with 3D films, 3D television shows and 3D videos games. The TV is now available in Korea and will become available in the United States in March and Europe shortly after.

The new Samsung 7000 and 8000 series are equipped with Samsung’s ” 3D Hyperial Engine”. The 3D Hyperial Engine will automatically adjust the colour, motion and brightness of the screen to ensure the best quality picture for viewing.

The latest television from Samsung is also able to convert 2D content into 3D images with a single click of a remote controller.
“We have also developed technology that converts 2D content into 3D, and that will enable consumers to experience watching TV with an extra visual dimension even when 3D content is somewhat less available,” said Yoon Boo-keun, president of the visual display division.

The price of Samsung 46-inch high definition LED-LCD TVis around $3,600 in Korea and is expected to stay the same when it is released in the United States and Europe

Samsung’s global market share in the overall TV market exceeded 20 percent last year, as the 3D TV market is expected to grow into an estimated 17 billion U.S. dollar industry by 2018, according to market reports. Samsung have beaten Philips to the launch of a 3D television. Philips are expected to launch the Philips 3DTV 9000 series this summer.
