Samsung are set to become the first television manufacturer to launch 3D TV sets in the UK. The Samsung 3D LED TV will be available in three different models, the C7000, C8000 and the C9000. The new Samsung LED 7, LED 8 and LCD 7 models, along with the BD-C6900 Blu-ray player, will go on sale in March, and the LED 9, the Plasma 7 Series and the HT-C6930W Home Theatre System will become available later in the year. Samsung are already selling 3D television sets in other parts of the world.
Screen sizes will start at 40-inches and will include a freeview box already installed. The 3D TVs will come bundled with two pairs of 3D glasses along with a Blu-ray copy of Monsters vs Aliens.
The 3D television sets will also integrate the BBC iPlayer, online videos from LoveFilm and will also include wifi so that viewers can watch television content from the internet.
Samsung have not yet confirmed the price of their 3D TV sets, however, John Lewis vision buyer David Kempner says that he expected the price to be around £2000
Samsung recently announced a content partnership with Dreamworks studios to turn some of their classic CGI movies into 3D. Titles such as Shrek and Monsters vs Aliens will be available on Blu-ray in 3D.
