A technology expert from Intel is predicting that the 3D internet will become a reality in the next 5-10 years. Sea Koehl of Intel Labs predicts that the internet will mostly be 3D in the future.
Koehl said, “Look at the trends of the last decade or two. Think about computers becoming widespread, and the Internet and these mobile devices.
With the availability of all this computing power, we’re only beginning to exploit it. Now we’re adding more intelligence and more capability. Add that to 3-D worlds and it could be very different than the sort of experiences that we have today”.
Koehl expects that while many internet users will be perfectly happy with reading text and email in 2D they will become more responsive to emerging 3D technology and demand that some of the 3D devices can be utilized on the web.
Koehl went on to tell ComputerWorld.com “I think our lives will be a lot different,” he added. “Look at the trends of the last decade or two. Think about computers becoming widespread, and the Internet and these mobile devices. With the availability of all this computing power, we’re only beginning to exploit it. Now we’re adding more intelligence and more capability. Add that to 3D worlds and it could be very different than the sort of experiences that we have today.”
Are there any applications you can think of with the 3D internet?
